Hyper Amino
Ingredients
Hyper Amino is more than just a BCAA blend with a sprinkle
of energy. It contains a vast array of aminos intended to support your body in
all areas from recovery to circulation to anabolism. The energy blend is
equally unique as it’s not just your standard hit of caffeine like many
competitors on the market, but enough chit-chat let’s see what they’re packing!
Hyper Amino® Amino
Blend (5g)
Bcaa 2:1:1 Matrix
Hyper Amino begins where all good amino products should
start with a nice hit of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). Composed of
Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine, the BCAAs are a special type of amino acids
that possess the unique ability to trigger muscle protein synthesis.[1,2]
Additionally, these three aminos also accelerate the recovery process and
decrease muscle soreness, a.k.a. DOMS.[3,4]
Higher dose of BCAAs
than Amino Energy
We usually like to see at least 5g of BCAAs in our intra /
post workout products, but since this is intended more of as a “during the day”
pick me up, we’ll let the sub 5g dose slide. That’s especially true since
Gaspari is claiming that it has 33% more BCAAs and L-Glutamine than Optimum
Nutrition’s AmiNO Energy, while using less cheap ingredients like taurine!
Amino Recovery Matrix
If you train hard, you have to recover “hard” too. And recovery
is longer than just the hour or two following your gym session. It starts then
but goes on for much longer than that. For this reason, Hyper Amino has
included L-Glutamine and L-Taurine in its Amino Recovery Matrix as both have
been demonstrated in research to improve recovery[5] and alleviate muscle
damage and soreness.[6]
In the case of Taurine, the recovery benefits are enhanced
when the amino is used alongside BCAAs[7], as it just so happens to be here.
This will keep your body in a pro-recovery state all day long so you recover
quicker and can get back in the gym to tear the weights a new one the much
faster!
Blood Flow & Performance Enhancement Matrix
Having good circulation is good
for a number of reasons. Aside from the obvious ones of keeping you alive and
healthy, good circulation for your muscles means delivering a fresh supply of
oxygen and nutrients to them regularly. This helps keep them supple and can go
a long way to improving performance and recovery.
One way supplements can support
optimal blood flow is by boosting nitric oxide levels in the body which cause
vasodilation (expansion of the blood vessels). This “opens the flood gates” so
to speak and enhances circulation throughout the body, but particularly working
muscles.
To aid this process, Gaspari has
added two proven nitric oxide boosters in L-Citrulline and L-Arginine. Although
Citrulline has been shown to be more bioavailable, and more effective, than
Arginine at increasing N.O. levels in the body[8], that doesn’t mean arginine’s
inclusion is useless.
Arginine is the amino in the body
that is directly responsible for nitric oxide production, so the more available
arginine the better!
Hyper Amino® Hyper
Energy Matrix (200mg)
Ilex Guayusa Extract
Unless you’ve
happened to visit an Amazonian rain forest, chances are you’ve never heard of
this ingredient. Ilex guayusa is a tree found in Ecuador, South America. The
Jivaro, a native tribe that resides there, used to make a tea made from its
leaves as part of their morning ritual.
Guayusa contains less
caffeine than coffee,[9] but more than green tea (our next ingredient) so this
is where the stimulant component of Hyper Amino begins.
Provides L-Theanine,
Theobromine, and Theophylline
In addition to the caffeine, Guayusa contains L-Theanine,
which is commonly found in tea and combines extremely well with caffeine to
reduce stress and increase productivity.
Next, it also contains theobromine, one of the feel-good the
stimulants often found in chocolate.
Finally, guayusa also
provides small amounts of theophylline. This helps to relax muscles in the
airway and help with breathing when exercising.
The energy from Ilex Guayusa is a calm, smooth, and
invigorating form of energy, and the teas are often interchanged with coffee as
a change-up — exactly how Hyper Amino can be used for you!
Green Tea Extract
Green tea has long been heralded for its beneficial effects
on the cardiovascular system, due to its high polyphenol and catechin content.
The most notable catechin of green tea is EGCG.
Health benefits notwithstanding, green tea is also
beneficial for fat burning thanks primarily to EGCG’s role in fostering lipolytic
actions in the body.[10,11] You’ll also receive a modest energy boost from the
small amount of caffeine contained in it, but the majority of energy will most
likely be felt from the ingredient above and below this one.
Guarana Extract
Guarana is an alkaloid found in all sorts of energy drinks.
The seeds contain approximately twice the amount of caffeine as regular old
coffee beans.[11] While we don’t know the standardization used here, one thing
we do like about this ingredient is that it will increase the stimulatory
effects of the other ingredients in Hyper Amino.[12]
This essentially gives us more “bang for our buck” and
doesn’t necessitate the inclusion of additional caffeine or other choice
stimulants.
