MRI Quick Gainer Product Information

Anti-Catabolic Mass Complex - Specifically Designed For Hard Gainers!

Now Go From "Hard Gainer" To "Easy Gainer"

Ed Byrd specifically designed Quick Gainer for hard gainers looking for overwhelming gains in lean mass. It's formulated to provide 690 mass-specific calories to give users rapid gains - fast! What's more, Quick Gainer employs MRI's newest anti-catabolic technology, and to help users keep the new muscle they pack on. And here's the best part. New Quick Gainer is great tasting, so it's the mass gainer you'll actually look forward to drinking.

By definition, being "unique" isn't unique. Pick any category of dietary supplements. Every product belonging to that category is different from the rest in some way. Statistically speaking, it's inevitable. Being better than the rest of the supplements in a given category, on the other hand...now that truly is unique.

Every bottle of QUICK GAINER that rolls out of MRI's manufacturing center has been formulated with one type of athletic body in mind, that of the "Hard Gainer". There are a lot of Hard Gainers out there, including some of the product formulators and other dedicated employees who work at MRI. This means that we speak from first-hand experience. It also leaves us especially well qualified to build formulas that are not merely unique but also better than the alternatives.

QUICK GAINER: "Blitzing" The Hard Gainer's Metabolism

For the Hard Gainer, the struggle to gain muscle mass isn't so much about stimulating muscle building (anabolic) processes as it is about slowing down the processes involved in causing your muscles to shrink (catabolism). With fast lateral movements and explosive blocking, the QUICK GAINER Anti-Catabolic Mass Complex formula "blitzes" catabolic processes head on, well behind the metabolic line of scrimmage, and from angles that are frequently overlooked by other lean mass gainers. Used as directed, QUICK GAINER gives the Hard Gainer everything he or she needs to slow down muscle tissue catabolism and keep more of the mass gains produced by training:

  • 50 g of catabolism-tackling protein per serving: more than other lean mass gainers
  • Contains CORT-AVERT technology, a casein hydrolysate with documented anxiety-reducing and sleep-promoting properties: not found in other lean mass gainers
  • 93 g of carbohydrate (only 18% of which is sugar): for maximum muscle glycogen support
  • 8 g of fiber: 60% more than another well-known lean mass gainer
  • 21 vitamins and minerals: to make sure the protein and carbohydrate is put to lean mass-building use
  • 690 Calories: more than other lean mass gainers
  • 1200 mg of potassium (Chocolate Volcano flavor): nearly 3 times the potassium content of another well-known lean mass gainer

The Conquest of (Hard Gainer) Metabolism

The metabolism of the Hard Gainer displays a number of peculiarities that restrict his or her ability to gain lean, hard muscle mass. QUICK GAINER is formulated to conquer these metabolic peculiarities unlike any other lean mass gainer on the market. Even lifting weights -probably the most anabolic activity you will ever perform-can't deliver some of the metabolic effects produced by nutrients found in QUICK GAINER.

To be extra convincing, MRI's food scientists ensured that the shakes you prepare with QUICK GAINER are so richly delicious that your appetite will forget you're eating something that's supposed to help you build lean hard muscle mass. You'll think you skipped over the main course and fell mouth-first into dessert.

Plus, QUICK GAINER contains no trans fats or aspartame. It also has no added creatine so that you are free

Serving 1 (Day 1)

Should you choose vanilla, expect an avalanche of sweetness. If chocolate is your choice, then prepare for a volcanic eruption of decadence. We're only slightly exaggerating. But besides the delicious taste experience, what can you realistically expect after only your first serving of QUICK GAINER? Quite a bit, actually. If that first serving follows a tough iron-pumping workout, then within 6-10 hours you may experience an increase in muscle fullness that is noticeable by sight and touch. The carbohydrates in QUICK GAINER tend to draw water into your muscle cells by osmosis and trap it there as it is converted into glycogen. The increase in muscle glycogen and hydration will support your "strength endurance" in the gym (i.e. your ability to perform multiple sets with a given load) in addition to affecting muscle fullness (volume) and shape. Sometimes a greater intake of carbohydrate is all it takes to make an improvement in all three of these parameters.

Servings 7-14 (Days 7-14)

If you've supplemented your regular meal and workout schedule with a QUICK GAINER shake each day as directed, then you may well have noticed an increase in physical performance between weeks one and two. With QUICK GAINERâ„¢'s bounty of muscle protein- and glycogen-building nutrients tackling your Hard Gainer metabolism every day, you'll sense a boost of recuperative power. Your strength levels recover more quickly following your workouts and you can perform more sets without getting so winded. This results in better pumps -a harbinger of lean mass gains to come.

Feeling a little hot under the collar since you started using QUICK GAINER? Remember that every serving instantly delivers a total of 143 grams of high-quality protein and carbohydrate to your body. Metabolizing that protein (e.g. using its constituent amino acids to synthesize new muscle protein) and carbohydrate (e.g. muscle glycogen synthesis) consumes energy, some of which "escapes" as heat. For this reason, the addition of QUICK GAINER to your daily diet can dramatically increase thermogenesis, causing you to feel warmer. This translates into an increase in metabolic rate -always a plus when you're trying to avoid gaining body fat.

Servings 21-28 (Days 21-28)

Assuming you've been working out and using QUICK GAINER consistently, it's quite possible for you to increase your lean body mass by sometime between weeks three and four. Even as little as 12 grams of essential amino acids ingested after resistance exercise can result in a net gain in muscle protein (Borsheim et al. 2002). QUICK GAINER provides much more than this, along with plenty of carbohydrate. There are two sides to gaining mass -protein and glycogen-and QUICK GAINER is powerfully equipped to help you build both in muscle.

The Genetics of Catabolism

Your genes represent a portion of the proverbial cards you were dealt. They play an instrumental role in determining how much muscle mass you can add to your frame. Genes affect your testosterone level, and the number of muscle cells you were born with and their size, for instance. Genes also determine how your metabolism responds to a given quality and quantity of ingested protein.

Let's say you eat a few ounces of flank steak or top sirloin. Or maybe you drink a glass of skimmed milk. Your gut digests the protein found in these foods, absorbing amino acids (the building blocks of protein) into your bloodstream. The amino acids circulate throughout your body. Some of them end up in your muscles. That's great news...or it could be great. It really depends.

Some of us swallow a juicy piece of sirloin or a cold glass of milk and a few hours later muscle protein breakdown, or catabolism, has been reduced to a whisper. Then there are those of us -the Hard Gainers-- who eat the same foods and a few hours muscle protein catabolism is still rocking and rolling as if it never got the proverbial memo. ("We have ingested food protein. We can stop breaking down muscle protein.") You might say that the muscles of the Hard Gainer are particularly efficient at cannibalizing themselves. This makes it all the more difficult for the Hard Gainer to build muscle, no matter how much weight he or she loads onto the barbell or how many times it is lifted up toward the sky.

Eating more protein, especially higher-quality protein, by itself is a good first step, but it's not good enough -not for the Hard Gainer, anyways. That's why MRI's skilled product formulators developed QUICK GAINER. As noted elsewhere, some of our formulators and other employees at MRI are Hard Gainers themselves. Together they comprise a veritable Hard Gainer "intelligentsia".

The Conquest of Metabolism

In a nutshell, the product formulators at MRI developed QUICK GAINER to conquer the Hard Gainer's "fussy" metabolism, particularly as it concerns those processes governing the turnover (i.e. anabolism and catabolism) of lean mass.

The formula starts with protein. Each serving of QUICK GAINER contains fifty grams (50 g) of premium protein. That may sound like a lot, and it is. Consider that scientific studies have found that the equivalent of 12 grams of protein taken after resistance exercise can stimulate muscle protein synthesis in healthy humans (e.g. Borsheim et al. 2002).

However, remember that we are talking about Hard Gainers. The Hard-Gainer metabolism doesn't suppress muscle protein catabolism as strongly in response to the ingestion of a protein-containing meal as does the metabolism of other individuals (i.e. "Not-so-hard Gainers"). Insulin plays a role in suppressing muscle protein catabolism after a meal, so it is conceivable that the Hard Gainer's metabolism isn't as sensitive to insulin in this regard. The quality of the protein ingested also plays a role. High-quality proteins suppress catabolism more efficiently. Scientific studies support all of these contentions. MRI's product formulators took them into consideration by adding an abundance of protein and carbohydrate to the QUICK GAINER formula and ensuring that both were of the highest quality available.

There are two sides to gaining lean mass.

>Speaking of carbohydrate, the importance of this macronutrient to the Hard Gainer is often overlooked. Gaining muscle mass involves not just increasing muscle protein but also muscle glycogen levels. (Witness the "glycogen-loading" phase of contest preparation undertaken by world-class bodybuilders.) For the Hard Gainer, therefore, gaining lean mass requires teaching your metabolism slow down the rates of both muscle protein and glycogen catabolism. These are the "two sides" to gaining lean mass. When is the last time you read an advertisement discussing how a particular brand of lean mass gainer slows down muscle glycogen breakdown? Usually you only hear about the muscle protein synthesis side of the mass-building equation.

As noted above, when the Hard Gainer eats a regular protein-containing meal, protein synthesis (anabolism) may go up, but protein catabolism may not be suppressed as much as is ideal for gaining muscle mass. There is evidence for a similar phenomenon with regards the effects of meals on muscle glycogen. Hard Gainers often report that their muscles lose fullness within only a few hours (usually less than 24 hours) of reducing their carbohydrate intake. This is an indication of how sensitive ("fussy") their metabolism is. This tendency to quickly lose gains in muscle protein and glycogen make the process of gaining lean mass all the more difficult.

QUICK GAINER contains 93 grams of carbohydrate per serving, a mere 18% of which is sugar. Besides contributing to QUICK GAINER's fantastic taste, the added carbohydrates accelerate muscle glycogen synthesis and suppress muscle glycogen breakdown. Remember that glycogen binds water. Thus, as glycogen accumulates inside your muscle cells, so too does water. This causes cell volumization (swelling) and it is believed to set the stage for other anabolic processes such as muscle protein synthesis. All of this ultimately translates into more massive muscles on your frame.

Potassium: The Anabolic Electrolyte QUICK GAINER also contains a whopping 1200 milligrams of potassium per serving (Chocolate Volcano Flavor). Almost all of the potassium inside your body is found inside your cells, the bulk of it being inside your muscle cells (Sejersted and Sjogaard, 2000). Potassium plays a key role muscle contraction, osmolarity and the turnover of muscle protein and glycogen. Ingesting potassium also helps your body excrete excess sodium and water and support healthy blood pressure. Bodybuilders usually associate sodium retention with bloating and a loss of muscle definition (so-called "thick skin").
