Our first study was performed by Dr. Ron Mendel and colleagues at The Ohio Research Group2. The purpose of the study was to see how much lean mass an average guy would gain if he took one dose of SuperPump 250™ before hitting the weights. Male subjects with at least two years of weight training experience completed 5 sets of 10 reps for the biceps alternated with 5 sets of 10 reps for the triceps under two conditions: 1) SuperPump 250™ and 2) placebo (flavored water). Twenty four hour food intake and physical activity were tightly controlled (duplicated) prior to each trial, and all sets, reps, weights, and rest periods were held constant from one trial to the next. The workout consisted of 10 sets: 5 sets for the biceps and 5 sets for the triceps. All weights, reps and rest periods were tightly controlled and kept the same from one trial to the next. Changes in lean mass (muscle) and body fat were measured with gold standard and one of the most sensitive tools available: dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).
